That song is a Richard Meltzer lyric, think of it as the flip side of Sandy Pearlman's "St. Cecilia" in tone and intent. It's sung by Richie, and he wrote the music as well. Wait'll you hear it. : ) Blimey...

BTW: Just wondering - is it an OLD Meltzer lyric or did you invite him to contribute stuff for this new record...?

Sorry but it leaves me cold, and before I get slaughtered for saying that I know its more important about what the record is like but to me the cover is all part of the package. I spent hours in my youth in record shops shifting through vinyl looking at the covers and buying the record purely on if the cover grabbed me especially if I didn't know the band. That's pretty much how I came to buy the first BOC LP... You see that a lot - people saying the cover artwork doesn't matter - it's ALL about the record inside... but for me, an LP's cover art is integral to the record itself - it's often your first point of contact with the work... you might not realise it, but it colours and frames how you subsequently appreciate and process that record... If you're one of those people who say that the cover doesn't really matter, then try this test: if I say "Love it to Death" or "Killer" to you, do you IMMEDIATELY think of Dwight Frye or Dead Babies or whatever, or do you mentally picture the album covers...? If I say "Tyranny" or "Secret Treaties"... what do you picture in your head...? "Funhouse", "Raw Power"...? Led Zeppelin IV, Physical Graffiti...? ... and so on... and so on... The covers MATTER... the artwork IS important... If the covers Matter....Then explain Heaven Forbid.... lol

now the question is how many songs are sung by eric, buck and ritchie ? I’d rather be surprised by this and not know in advance. I know I will break down and listen to clips or download the first song or two released by iTunes when available, but would prefer to hear the whole album in its entirety at one sitting. Truth is, with HF, so many of those tracks had been played live before the record came out so it just became getting used to the studio versions. And I ended up liking that album juuuust fine. :-)

now the question is how many songs are sung by eric, buck and ritchie ? my educate guessing is 4 to 5 Eric, 4 to 5 Richie, 5 Buck most likely each singing the song he wrote

No and it's not going to stop us buying this album but imho I was hoping for something really special and I feel disappointed

I feel like I have to keep hedging about how much I like the cover because the reactions are pretty strong and I don't want to come off as a kiss-ass, but to be honest I dig it. Makes me think of The Old Gods Return in a way.

We'll discuss all aspects of "The Symbol Remains" when it comes out. I'd like you all to hear it before we dicker over stuff like the cover art.
BTW, review copies of the record have gone out to music journalists so they can review it in time for October publication. So some folks have heard it already. I don't know if reactions are embargoed until then, or if you'll start reading about it sooner.

Both had positive comments.
