The first time I heard Tainted Blood, I thought of Mike Reno and Loverboy. Ha, don't tell Eric or Richie. : ) After further review, the vocal that reminded me more of Mike Reno was actually “Return of St. Cecilia”. Tainted Blood is one of my faves from Symbol. So many great melodies and harmonies, and OMG the guitar work. My top 5 or 6 songs sorta jockey for position, with the leader, favored comfortably. Wait for it.......Box In My Head. Love the drums, especially, and the vocal melody. Right up there with Stilts and Pocket. #ItsGotAGoodBeatAndYouCanDanceToIt

Lovin every minute of it? Ha, maybe! Or Working for the Weekend...the music and lyrics are definitely not Loverboy, but Richie’s singing definitely has a 80’s vibe to it. Not a bad thing, and yet, he also sounds different than that, at times. Very versatile, I’m sure many would agree. Interesting-I'm hearing more of a late 70's 38 Special vibe on Machine.

"Machine" was one of the first songs Richie presented to the band, before we had the Frontiers deal. I wanted to sing it, and might have, but time got tight toward the delivery date for TRS so Richie did it. I would have strove for a country rock style vocal, about the time when male country artists were singing about pickup trucks, long neck beers, dirt roads, "girl" and painted on jeans.

That's the hookiest line in the song. I'm singing it with all my might. ; )

I like how they don't sound the same from song to song; Edge of the World has a much deeper low end, The Machine is more squarely in the tenor range, etc. Do you know what range you want the vocals in and chose who to sing based on the range?

Richie and I have complimentary singing voices, and every harmony on TRS has Richie, me, and often others. Our vocal ranges are all similar, Eric at his best sings higher than us.
