ONJ in Grease with the leather/Sandra Dee looks had something to do with my pre sexual awakening as a kid. She really made that movie fun to watch. As a rule I don't like musicals, but Grease was not a "classic" musical. She was as cute as could be in most of the movie, then the spandex+leather at the end really got your attention. She really did a good job with that part. And it was a real pleasure to listen to her sing throughout the movie. I think about every guy my age that I knew had some kind of crush on her - in a good way. This is all meant to be very complimentary to her in case anyone has any doubts. FYI: At some auction her Grease outfit sold for $405,700. Not sure what all that included. Here is an article titled "Why Olivia Newton-John’s death feels incredibly personal for ‘Grease’ fans" : nypost.com/2022/08/08/why-olivia-newton-johns-death-feels-personal-for-grease-fans/

Voice of an angel and she seemed ageless. And that smile! Always seemed so welcoming, despite all her setbacks, battling cancer for 30 years. Saw a segment a couple years back maybe, on CBS Sunday Morning here in the US, and you couldn’t help but adore her. And she was able to fit back into those pants! May she rest in peace. So very saddened.

"A Little More Love" is a great piece of pop craft. Great opening and verse music, great "B" section ("It gets me nowhere,") and a great chorus and turn around. Great production, a great vocal performance by Olivia, and a lyric suggesting she might go the extra effort to win the listener's love, all made a big hit record.

John Farrar wrote this, and most of her hits, and often played guitar, but it’s Steve Lukather, on “A Little More Love”

Lamont Dozier has passed away at age 81. He was part of the Motown songwriting team of Holland-Dozier-Holland. They wrote a lot of the hits for The Supremes and The Four Tops and many others. Along with other staff writers including Smokey Robinson they turned out an incredible number of great great songs starting in the late 50's writing for the great Jackie Wilson early 60's hits for Marv Johnson and the first Spinners tunes produced by Harvey Fuqua of The Moonglows and a young Marvin Gaye on drums for The Spinners earliest hit That's What Girls Are Made For.Eddie Holland had some hits of his own. They changed the face of music fer sure:
A must see claymation video of Jackie Wilsons first single Reet Petite:

This fellow is right up there with Bacharach/David in the pop era and anybody in the history of popular music composers.

As the '50's-'70's pop giants pass, kudos to sirrastus for the keen historical details. They obviously don't write 'em like "That's What Girls Are Made For" anymore. I faintly remember hearing that once or twice on radio somewhere in the NY metro market. And as funny as that claymation video of Jackie Wilson is, it does nothing to portray how attractive a man and an artist he was. My epiphany of the power of popular music came when I heard "Shop Around" by the Miracles as a grade schooler. Changed my life.

Gord Lewis - age 65 Rock guitarist and a founding member of the Canadian punk rock band "Teenage Head" which was formed in 1975 Lewis saw the 1971 album by "The Flaming Groovies" titled "Teenage Head" advertised in a magazine and decided he would like to form a band by that name. In 1983 the name was changed to "Teenage Heads", demanded by MCA Records, for a "more conservative" American audience, and at that time they appeared as themselves in the film "Class of 1984"
Gord was found dead in his home. Believed to be his son, a man named Jonathan Lewis was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
