Wolfgang Petersen - age 81 German film director, producer, and screenwriter Best known for his 1981 World War II submarine film "Das Boot" (director and screenplay) Also the director and/or producer of the films, every one which I've seen and enjoyed: Enemy Mine (Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett Jr .) In the Line of Fire (Clint Eastwood) Outbreak (Dustin Hoffman, Rene Russo, Morgan Freeman among others) Air Force One (Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman) The Perfect Storm (George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, Diane Lane) Was about to post this too.Didn't he direct Das Boot.Another classic. Yes - as shown in my original post as "Best known for his 1981 World War II submarine film "Das Boot" (director and screenplay)"
I put it on it's own line because references said it was his "best known", however I'm not 100% sure I've ever seen it. The one's below it are the ones I KNOW I've seen. All were excellent. Each to his own, but Outbreak was my favorite even if some of the medical science isn't plausible. The list above is quite a compliment on his ability to direct.

Being a country western singer many of you may not have heard of him. I hadn't. But his death made national press and television coverage yesterday and today. Luke Bell - age 32 He had missing for about 9 days in the Tucson area and was found nearby. No foul play involved. I think his desire to go back to the earlier roots of C&W may be what set him apart. According to the New York Post: "With his untimely death, Bell leaves behind a legacy as one of the most “authentic” country artists in modern times, with tunes that capture a bygone era. The singer’s unique sound and style earned him comparisons to the late, great Waylon Jennings, who inspired country music’s Outlaw Movement.
Many fans deemed Bell a true original in a music scene over saturated with sterile, derivative pop songs" nypost.com/2022/08/30/country-star-luke-bell-dead-at-32-after-going-missing-for-a-week/

John Till - age 76 His musical career took him from a teenage band to a highly successful album with Janis Joplin. Canadian guitarist, co-founder of the band "The Revols". I believe he was 14 or 15 years old at the time. Later played with "The Hawks", then became a studio musician in New York and led his own group, "The Full Tillt Boogie Band" He was then hired as a touring musician for Janis Joplin's "Kozmic Blues Band". Joplin then reformed a new band called "Full Tilt Boogie" with Till still a member (of course). "Full Tilt Boogie" recorded their album "Pearl" which was RIAA certified quadruple platinum. It was #1 for nine weeks on the Billboard 200 in 1971, which was after Joplin's death. "Pearl" was produced by Paul Rothchild, who was the studio producer for The Doors. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearl_(Janis_Joplin_album)

Lester Lowry Mays - age 87 Founder and former chairman of Clear Channel Communications Co-founder of iHeartMedia, Inc.
iHeartMedia, Inc., formerly CC Media Holdings, Inc., is an American mass media corporation headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. It is the holding company of iHeartCommunications, Inc. (formerly Clear Channel Communications, Inc.), a company founded by Lowry Mays and B. J. "Red" McCombs in 1972. (The corporate history is a little complicated)Taken from: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lowry_Maysand: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IHeartMediaHow the name "Clear Channel Communications" came about: Mays and McCombs purchased AM radio station WOAI in 1975. This station was considered a "clear channel" station because no other station operated on its frequency and its 50,000-watt signal could be heard hundreds or even thousands of miles away on a clear night. It's located at "1200 on your radio dial" as I remember them saying.
