Kim Simmonds of the blues rock band Savoy Brown - Age 75 He was the founder, guitarist, and songwriter for the band. such a shame. SB was a great band that also gave us the foundation of Foghat.

I saw BOC warm-up for Savoy Brown in '73 or so, possibly that tour noted. It was the show that started my BOC journey.

That '86 gig was apparently done as a solo performer, but do you recall what sort of set he did? - was it a full band, doing own, new compositions or "classics" from his past... ?

I believe he had a band with him .Perhaps a bunch of 5th graders called The Little Band Geeks.

My fave 60’s drummer, along with Bobby Elliot…talk about hits, not even counting their biggies, they go on and on. Some of my faves include I ain’t gunna eat out my heart anymore, I’ve been lonely so long, a girl like you, it’s wonderful…so underrated, an American gem, right up there with the best.

I bought two singles by them I Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore and A Ray Of Hope two great songs I've never grown tired of.

No I have no idea what songs he did.But he looked well manicured. Simmons fronted the English blues band "Savoy Brown." Over the band's long existence, it was a revolving door of musicians, with many familiar names including future members of Fleetwood Mac, Chicken Shack, UFO, and nearly all the original members of Foghat doing stints in Savoy. The wiki page is a good read. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Savoy_BrownUnmentioned in the wiki article is a tour we did with Kim and Savoy Brown featuring Jackie Lynton as vocalist. That band was wonderful, super entertaining and great fellows. I guess that lineup didn't do any recording. Kim was always a pleasant fellow. He married an American and lived in Syracuse NY the last I'd hear of him.

June 29, 1973 at the Palace Concert Theater, Providence - the "JACK THE TOAD Tour 1973" www.rirocks.net/Band%20Articles/Savoy%20Brown%201973%2006.29%20-%20Palace%20Theater.htm This came from the link above that has a picture of Jackie Lynton as a band member:
