Was never a Poison fan but I did like hearing Brett was in a BOC cover band called Spectres.

I Need a Lover is a great song. But I don't think I've heard any other song of his I've ever liked. Some of my law skewl classmates did "I Need A Lawyer" in our 3L parody extravaganza. It was...interesting.

Gotta say, Maestro, I agree with tbat assessment for whatever it's worth...regarding both the superior use of DTFR in the previous incarnation and the perfect inclusion (imho) of the Crowded House tune. Of course, I love me some BOC anywhere I can get it...

I can't even be arsed to sign up for a free trial to watch this mini series. I never thought I'd say that because I loved the first miniseries and I loved the book, but everything I hear is just that this miniseries is REALLY bad. Not even entertainingly bad, just.... unremarkable. Like the John Mellencamp of miniseries It's...less than stellan---er, stellar. See what I did there? I'm a huge fan of King's work, with The Stand probably my all-time favorite, and I had high hopes for this incarnation; unfortunately, I have been pretty roundly disappointed. While I like Alexander Skarsgard immensely, especially his work in Generation Kill and True Blood, I really think Flagg was underutilized this time around. And don't even get me started on the cartoonish Lloyd Henreid---Miguel Ferrer did it way better, I think. In all honesty---to paraphrase a line from another King adaptation---with the exception of Children of the Korn, Misery and possibly The Shining, "I never have really seen a movie based on a King book that synced with the visions I had in my head. Jesus, does anyone?"

Here are the ones I've loved It: Chapter One (but not Chapter Two) Misery The Shawshank Redemption The Green Mile Stand By Me Doctor Sleep Gerald's Game The Dead Zone

I just watched the denouement of the CBS adaptation...and I can now offer the definite opinion that this entire endeavor was a disappointment. Especially behind a paywall.

I think it’s just awful. Unnecessary character changes from the original story, the storyline and continuity is completely dicked up, poor character development and super poor casting, etc.. The only characters I believe that they cast “somewhat” properly were Flagg and Lauder.. The rest? Meh, at best.. When I heard they were rebooting this, I was very excited. Now, I wish they would have just left it alone.. Just MHO on the topic..

Is there any "reboot" that's worthy? I liked the Benedict Cumberbatch/Martin Freeman "Sherlock."

I liked the second version of Salem's Lot. Plus I thought the recent Pet Semetary better than the first.
I agree that the first half of It was on target the second adult half wasn't. Also really liked The Mist and Langoliers.Shawshank stands as an all-time great as does Stand By Me my fave film about kids being kids,Green Mile was excellent-loved seeing 100 yr old Dabbs Greer in a small role.Dead Zone is IMO another great film.Walken was fantastic.Storm Of The Century was great too.

Plus I thought the recent Pet Semetary better than the first. The thing about Pet Semetary is that the movie was ALMOST exactly like the book. Nothing that changed made any difference.

Is there any "reboot" that's worthy? I liked the Benedict Cumberbatch/Martin Freeman "Sherlock." What?? Better than Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce??!!! Shirley, you jest!! :-) I've always been a fan of Martin Freeman, largely because of "The Office" - the UK one, that is, although, weirdly, I later came to appreciate the U.S. one more, but that Sherlock business left me bemused and befuddled, and that's coming from a massive Conan Doyle fan... "Sherlock" was just so smug and full of itself that, by the end, I just wanted to slap Benedict Cumberbatch around the chops with a large wet haddock, Monty Python style... Which - weirdly - answers your question regarding is any reboot worthy - yes, "The Office"... but, for another example, I'd have to sail into Eric Bloom's territorial waters and drop anchor and say "Battlestar Galactica"... how do you quantify how much better the most recent version scores above the woeful 70s abomination...? Lorne Green should have stuck to the Ponderosa... But what about something like, say, "Star Trek"...? I think the jury's still out on that one: is the original 60s Kirk series better than the subsequent Picard, Janeway, Sisko etc iterations... personally, for me, I think the later series were not better - they're obviously still fine to watch, but for me they lacked the impact of the originals... When you think about it - in theory, reboots should be better than the originals but, in reality, it seems to be a difficult thing to pull off...

Is there any "reboot" that's worthy? I liked the Benedict Cumberbatch/Martin Freeman "Sherlock." Haven't yet seen that I heard the late 80's series was terrific. In addition to the Rathbone films I also like Hammers Hound Of The Baskervilles reboot.Hammer did great basically rebooting the earlier Universal series IMO Horror Of Dracula is still the best of all time.
