ok, no DFTR for Eric's funerals. so, maybe just the Saturday Night Live skit ? "We're gathered here together to pay tribute to Gene Frenkie"

I can see why he thinks of that as his personal worse record. For me, though, he KILLS it on The Great Sun Jester and I Am The Storm It's like they say - leave 'em wanting more... but, that said, for me, Mirrors was definitely a step downwards... for the first few weeks after it's release, I tried to convince myself that it was MY fault that I couldn't really get into it, but it gradually dawned on me that THIS wasn't my cup of tea at all... after that realisation, my disappointment was easier to deal with... but the question remains - if EB thinks Mirrors is BOC's worst recording, how does he regard Club Ninja...? Yes sadly Mirrors was definitely a step down after all the previous albums, I can also remember being bitterly disappointed by it at the time. However it does appear to have aged well & is very listenable but it's still no match for it's predecessors. It definitely isn't BOC worst record; that would either Club Ninja or Curse depending on my mood.
I also have a vague memory of an interview with EB around the time Cultosaurus came out in which he said something like you would be better off using the record it as a frizbee rather than listening to it!

Mirrors is a great Summer BBQ record. The period from 76-80 was peak for the original lineup. Both live, and studio quality. They were so great, the lasers were superfluous. Just think if they would have had them when they first started out...they would have worked better with the lyrical weirdness and raw Sonics. Give me The Vigil over Flaming Telepaths, every time.

I like Mirrors, but I wish that I Am The Storm would have been on a different album and rocked even harder.

Nahhh I threw it on the grill and not only did it taste terrible but it had very crackly audio.

I'd see a doc for that purple vision Martso.

I think Loudwire sort of sensationalized Eric's answers on DFTR and BOC's worst record for clicks. But that happens to everyone covered by today's media, from politicians, celebs, on down to ordinary folks.

Like I've said, I can see why people see it the way they do given what came before it, but for me it's top 5 material. It's hard to compare songs like Telepaths to songs like The Vigil, given the tones of each being so opposite, but if I had to chose one song and the other has to go, I'd probably chose Vigil for its unique structure and soundscape. We missed March Madness but we should do brackets to find the favorite BOC album or song LOL (not really haha)

I like Mirrors, but I wish that I Am The Storm would have been on a different album and rocked even harder. I can hear that one being played as heavy as That Was Me.

To be honest when I read this I took it as him saying what his personal worst record was not BOC's as a whole. Still quite a sensationalist headline though. My funeral playlist will probably have Pocket and Live For Me on it among a few dozen other optimistic or at least bittersweet songs by various artists. Seize the day will be the theme for that.

No big deal about EB not really wanting DFTR played at his funeral, it's a work thing for him. It'd be like discussing cover letters and TPS reports at my funeral.

Calling something BOC's worst record is like saying so and so was Sandy Koufax's worst great season.
