I think the meaning of words up in the NY area as opposed to here down south are different. In the context on Conry's could you tell me (just a few words or hint) as highlighted above what is a: greaser snappers reds Yikes! I'm certainly in no position to be able to point to what any differences in terminology usage might be between various parts of N. America... all I can speak to is my impression of the meaning... "greaser/snappers/reds bar" was Allen's quote - he was a southern gentleman living up around New York at the time, so I don't know if that would contaminate any north/south differences in meaning, but the interpretation of the individual elements in that phrase, so far as I understand them, are: (a) greasers - for me, that implies "bikers lite", maybe you had a bike, maybe you didn't, but you could adopt the look and stylistic elements in your lifestyle - in my country, it may be a bit different to yours, but greasers seemed to grow out of what were left of the "rockers" from the '60s... (b) snappers - as far as I know, that was a drugs reference (c) reds - drugs again, obviously - reds (Seconal) have come up as a fertile influence in Pearlman's songwriting imagery... So, on the face of it, "greaser/snappers/reds bar" would suggest that Conry's was a place you would go if you were of the biker/greaser type persuasion :-) or maybe it was the place you would go if you wanted to score - or maybe both... (or maybe you just wanted to watch Stalk Forrest...?) and yet, they seemed to have a restaurant part and advertised their fine dining etc - at least, the Ken Conry's one did - so I find the portrayal of the place to be intriguing, even somewhat contradictory, when trying to look back on it from a vantage point of 50 years removed... Thanks! I found a reference to greasers being a biker subculture that originated in the UK (I think). Down here it is a very derogatory name for a specific ethnic group and it's use can get you in trouble. I'm sure this is NOT the meaning in reference to Conry's. It's also used for someone whose job is to oil and lubricate machinery. One online slang dictionary said: "A tough young man, especially one from a white working-class background who is much involved with motorcycles or cars." Link: www.thefreedictionary.com/greaser That one would fit Marty's definition in his post.
I have never heard the term " snappers" so I can't even comment on that one! But there are a couple definitions at: onlineslangdictionary.comreds - you're probably right on that one. Seconal is a barbiturate that came in a red capsule and was apparently widely abused in the 60's. 70's, and 80's and had a lot of names, one of which was "reds". Also called "dolls" (as in The Valley of the Dolls) Yea, I had to look some of this stuff up.

See you all there! Still don't know door times either Mark. If anyone finds out, post up! There are times, and other info, posted on the Sony Hall website at: sonyhall.com/events/blue-oyster-cult-50th-anniversary-celebration/No idea whether or not the info is accurate. Doesn't say when the "early admission" to “ERIC & STEVE’s Garage Sale” is.

Sandy Dharma and I arrived in Manhattan tonight. We're just down the block from SONY Hall. We’re all down the block..😉.. It’s gonna be one GINORMOUS Blue Öyster Cult Rock show extravaganza in NYC for a few days. We are ALL so ready. Super stoked Also.. Any updates as to when the doors open ( both VIP and GA) and also, I’ve quite a few people asking me what time do the doors open for the garage sale? Thanks for any feedback. I’ll call SONY Hall in the morning to see if they can shed some light.

(b) snappers - as far as I know, that was a drugs reference I have never heard the term " snappers" so I can't even comment on that one! But there are a couple definitions at: onlineslangdictionary.comI've just looked up "snappers" at that link you gave, and all I can say is that's a new one on me - AFAIK, that expression never made it across the Atlantic... either that, or I need to get out more... I've just found the link I originally looked up which reckons "snappers" were an alternative name for "poppers": www.webmd.com/mental-health/addiction/what-are-poppersNot sure which one Allen had in mind when describing the bar, though... :-)

Doesn't say when the "early admission" to “ERIC & STEVE’s Garage Sale” is. The mind boggles on what's going to be in that one or how it's going to work... it could just be old BOC memorabilia or perhaps you get the chance to buy Buck's old lawn mower or maybe a set of power tools once owned by EB...? Maybe they let you see what there is beforehand, then they make a note of who's interested in what, and where there are multiple interested parties, they put the names into a hat and draw a winner out who's allowed to buy it...? Dunno, but if there is any gig memorabilia - posters, passes and what not - try and get a quick photo of them before they disappear, for posterity... :-)

Nothing of mine at the garage sale. Lots of stuff from Steve's house and some from Eric's house in Port Washington which he vacated this year to move west. Might be some collectables for fans.
And snappers in this instance are amyl nitrate ampules for reviving fainted persons.
