There wasn't many if any bikes at Conry's bar. Patrons were standard Long Island working class greaser types.

As far as I can see on Hotrails the houses are probably all gone nowadays? a lake?) was mentioned but couldn't find an Well, yes, the actual - original - properties seem to be gone (with at least two of them have new buildings there now) but the spaces where they once stood remain, where you could stand and commune, and soak up the vibes... :-) > but couldn't find an exact location of Conry's online.
The locations are listed on this page: www.hotrails.co.uk/bociaq/boc_myths/conrys.htm It's not a page that's linked to the rest of the site as I haven't got round to finishing it off and smoothing out the rough edges yet, but the basic info - such as it is currently known - is on there... BTW: it's in the "myths" section because I was trying to explore the reality of the idea that it was actually a "biker bar" - obviously, I've never been, so all I can go by is what's survived in print, and I've just noticed that I never did come to a conclusion about that... Only legends downplay their contributions...

Oh wow, I didn't know that you were the genius behind Hotrails - thanks a lot for the information and all the work that you put in the site, especially those trying to find the locations of those buildings. Much appreciated!

With Albert around it’d be cool to hear Vera again in a Set 2.
On this tune (and the whole show) the band was really spectacular in NYC at the AOF show.

I think the meaning of words up in the NY area as opposed to here down south are different. In the context on Conry's could you tell me (just a few words or hint) as highlighted above what is a: greaser snappers reds

In the context on Conry's could you tell me (just a few words or hint) as highlighted above what is a: greaser snappers reds Yikes! I'm certainly in no position to be able to point to what any differences in terminology usage might be between various parts of N. America... all I can speak to is my impression of the meaning... "greaser/snappers/reds bar" was Allen's quote - he was a southern gentleman living up around New York at the time, so I don't know if that would contaminate any north/south differences in meaning, but the interpretation of the individual elements in that phrase, so far as I understand them, are: (a) greasers - for me, that implies "bikers lite", maybe you had a bike, maybe you didn't, but you could adopt the look and stylistic elements in your lifestyle - in my country, it may be a bit different to yours, but greasers seemed to grow out of what were left of the "rockers" from the '60s... (b) snappers - as far as I know, that was a drugs reference (c) reds - drugs again, obviously - reds (Seconal) have come up as a fertile influence in Pearlman's songwriting imagery... So, on the face of it, "greaser/snappers/reds bar" would suggest that Conry's was a place you would go if you were of the biker/greaser type persuasion :-) or maybe it was the place you would go if you wanted to score - or maybe both... (or maybe you just wanted to watch Stalk Forrest...?) and yet, they seemed to have a restaurant part and advertised their fine dining etc - at least, the Ken Conry's one did - so I find the portrayal of the place to be intriguing, even somewhat contradictory, when trying to look back on it from a vantage point of 50 years removed...

Just guessing, but in the context of Conry’s, I’d say that greaser and snapper refer to guys that like to fight, short tempered, etc. and reds (by any definition) are barbiturates.
However, around here, greasers are guys like fonzie from Happy Days, and snappers are girls with a very particular set of skills.

LOL Your questions made me think of Groucho in the Big Store.I don't know why. "You came in here with 12 grapes and now you have 6.So how many grapes do you have. How many grapes do your kids have.Do you realize it's economically impossible to raise 12 kids on $30 a week?"
