I'm with the idea that Spectres was a perfect album for the times. I think the hardest thing for BÖC was that there was so much good music coming out at that time that was competing with them. Add in the fact that they had raised the bar of excellence so high by the previous albums that anything less would be disastrous. I misread as “little love for Spectres” and came here to fight.

Spectres was a great album! How can you argue with:
1. Godzilla 2. Golden Age of Leather 3. Nosferatu 4. I Love The Night
Heck all were good but those are my faves....Probably the first album ever with two vampire love songs too!

Spectres, IMO, has no weak tracks; I don’t skip any of them. Death Valley Nights and Nosferatu should be staples at BÖC concerts. I’ll have to check the Hot Rails to Hull site to see how many times these tunes were played. I’d love to hear them live.
Buck, out of curiosity, are there any tunes you’d like to play live that for whatever reason, you haven’t? If so, what are they?

The day is OK and the sun can be fun. But I live to see those rays slip away.

Great album through and through. I Love The Night is a song that inspires me every time I listen to it. I'm a sucker for romantic melancholic vibes! One of the best BÖC albums IMO.

Solid as it gets. There's something interesting in every song and not just the great riffs. Even the cover is epic.

I believe Spectres was very much a perfect album and Blue Öyster Cult needs to be inducted. Fantastic thread soonerbillz from repitts loves KC Chiefs and Rock ON!!!

I love Spectres not just for the songs themselves but for the soundscape. There is a lot more diversity in guitar effects and tone, and everything sounds BIGGER on that album. The drums, the guitar, the piano.

I wish Martin Birch had produced every BOC album. I don't know what it is, but the studio version of Godzilla is lifeless. If Spectres had the production of Cultosaurus, it (the entire album) would've been fantastic. As it is, the material is fantastic but the guitar sounds are just underwhelming.

I’m not going away until Spectres gets the full album show treatment.

Spectres definitely has a wide range of musical flavors, probably at least one would appeal to almost anybody - rockers or not.
I Love the Night is a classic example. Could play on non-rock radio and be accepted. Not sure a lot of people would figure out the vampire theme, but BÖC fans are always on the lookout for fangs. Would love to see/hear this one live.
Another non-traditional for BÖC is Fireworks. This one was written and sung by Albert. I assume an alternate title could be "Fireworks (with report)" :) Was Fireworks ever performed live?
The cover art is cool too. If there's a BÖC logo buried in the art, I can't find it. But the lasers are there! And what looks like a vampire's hand coming in from the right. No telling what else.
Great album!

my recollection is you can only see it, bottom left, on the record. Superimposed on a bottle?

my recollection is you can only see it, bottom left, on the record. Superimposed on a bottle? Correct. Lower left corner there is a crystal ball. The logo is inside of it. Very hard to see even on the actual album. Somewhere I have an original ad poster where's more visible.
