Here's a little more info on the album cover art from wearethemutants.com
"Featuring the band dressed up as what look like Edwardian psychic investigators, the cover of Spectres, BÖC’s fifth studio LP, was designed by artist and photographer Roni Hoffman, whose work on it earned her a gold record. The cover picture was taken by Eric Meola, a self-taught photographer who apprenticed with influential saturation-happy snapper Pete Turner (famous for his string of jazz LP covers throughout the ’60s and ’70s) before opening his own studio in 1971. Apart from a highly successful career as an editorial photographer for publications including Life, Esquire, and Time shooting editorial photos, Meola is also known for his many pictures of Bruce Springsteen, including the iconic black and white shot of Springsteen and Clarence Clemons which features on the cover of the Born to Run (1975) LP. The laser effects, including Eric Bloom’s famed wrist laser, were provided by laser pioneer David Infante of Laser Physics Inc. and used in the band’s laser stage show. "

Correct. Lower left corner there is a crystal ball. The logo is inside of it. Very hard to see even on the actual album. Somewhere I have an original ad poster where's more visible. Found it! Man, it is hard to see. I had to go through several on-line photos to really see it. Here's just the crystal ball with the logo. You should be able to see it. Ir's sideways, just a lighter shade of red.
Thanks!!

Goin Through the Motions should have been a hit.

One of the best albums of the 70's.Still my favorite BOC record. This album got the full page treatment in Rolling Stone who called BOC the Fleetwood Mac of heavy metal.Brett Michaels of Poison was in a BOC tribute band called Spectres.EQ wasn't the best IMO but the songs OMG what a perfect record.

The production on Spectres, and Agents of Fortune, is IMO among the best of all the BOC albums, The guitars sound so perfect, and the overall sound is amazing. Every guitar solo on Spectres is a masterpiece, I can hum every note of every solo, which is how a guitar solo should be. Spectres has a lot of variety, from powerchord rockers, to I love The Night, which obviously should have been the follow up hit to Reaper. I used to hear I Love The Night quite often on two Seattle radio stations until grunge took over and most of the great 70's album cuts were slashed from playlists, or played at 2am. And I much prefer the Spectres version of I Love The Night without the extra lyrics, I guess it's just what I'm used to hearing.

The last verse was edited out on Spectres for timing reasons by Sandy Pearlman, which leaves the song lyrically unresolved. I do appreciate the three records we made with Shelly Yakus at the console and mixing.

Always one of my favorites. Fireworks/Nosferatu/I Love the Night. What a trio. I like the deleted verse.

I am listening to each of the Albums in their entirety and I am now at SPECTRES. A Story about Spectres & me. In the early 80s I was in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. I was in charge of lending vehicles to visitors, so I always had an extra truck if I wanted it. I spent two winters up there and lived for The Northern Lights. It is really easy to see the Green ones, but if I wanted to see the Pink, the Blue, the Orange, you need to drive as far away from Camp Lights as possible. Once you get out there, it's really easy to find yourself in the Truck Bed staring at the sky. My Goto on my Walkman? SPECTRES. It scared me shitless. A Polar Bear was going to get me at any minute...

That's totally awesome and you've got some cajones to do that in an open truck bed alone. And how freaking cold was it? Just wow!

I issued the “Tundra Traveler” certificates for ARCO. If you drove off the road, you got a certificate. If you drove off a second time, you got a plane ticket South. The route to no lights, so you could see Natures Show, was straight North into The Arctic Ocean. It didn’t take long to get in total darkness…With full Polar Bear paranoia. Let’s put on the Walkman Headphones and Blue Oyster Cult to ease my anxiety. (There may or may not been other paranoid-inducing substances involved) 😅 Temperatures were in synch with The Wind and Visibility. If it was calm, -15 to -30. If it was blowing, though, yikes.

My favorite BÖC album. The eerie night ambience of that album is positively seductive.
