Seems like I've seen this article before, but it shows published 1 day ago.
Question: Anybody know the origins of the term "teenage wasteland"? The first use of it I could find was Pete Townshend's use of it in Baba O'Riley (1971), which goes back to his views about Woodstock, or even before.

Maybe that article seems familiar because its regurgitated crapGPT generated drivel? Not saying it is...just asking could it be? Oh and I grew up during that time but I don't know a single dude who met a "local acid queen" in the woods...heck I don't think I ever met an acid queen period. Did I miss out on something in my youth? Article makes it sound like a rite of passage. I'm perplexed.

Yea, crapGPT is on the table for this one. It did say "This original version of this article appeared in Classic Rock #96, Summer 2006." "This original version..." not "The original version..." ?
I've been reading more and more stuff on the web that looks fishy enough to be AI OR just crummy enough to be a bad writer, or one in a hurry with no attention to detail. Looks like whoever/whatever wrote this article focused on BÖC but threw elements of The Who into the mix. The term "Teenage Wasteland" came from The Who as far as I can tell. Also the "Acid Queen" was a character in their rock opera "Tommy". The Acid Queen in the opera was woman hired to cure Tommy with drugs and sex from what I remember. I've never heard the term "acid queen" used as a real thing when I was growing up.
Maybe the author or the software was a fan of both groups?

"I saw Blue Oyster Cult play the Penny Pan festival in Doveland"
Funny that another writer picked the same article in my first post to discuss, but at least there were additions. A lot of content I've heard before, but this one seems to have been written by a human. Some interesting takes on things, not all specific to BÖC, but still related.
If you read it, when you get to the "DeSantis" part the article goes off the rails and goes political on other topics. Note: my first time through the article, by screen came up clean without all the non-related ads. Guess I'm getting my ad-blockers fine tuned finally. :)

Well that last one does sound human written at least...
