Dissecting lyrics is not really my thing, but... Just this once. Who is he/she?

You raise an interesting point. I've never quite understood that 1st verse: In a purple vision vision Many thousand years ago I saw the silent stranger Walk the earth alone I think we need Mrs D to chime in here and tell us: WTF is this all about...? :-)

The line implies there were aliens on earth before human evolution. Of course that would be MANY thousand years ago. But time would be kinda fluid to anyone coming here from elsewhere, I suppose.

Reason Number One why I do not understand how Mirrors is slagged as too light… The Sony Version of The Vigil is FIRE.

Love the idea of time fluidity. Orson Scott Card captured that well in the Ender’s Game series.

beanguy, I love dissecting songs! The music BÖC puts out is so amazing and, in my opinion, there is nothing that even comes close to their form of art. However, as I have dug into the lyrics of their songs, I find the writing to be absolutely brilliant. That being said,I have only dug into the songs that Buck is credited for, at this point. Truly though, the man couldn’t possibly be praised enough for his writing talent.

My sense is that, as a species, we are in the very beginning of the age of discovery and invention, and that it’s the vastness of space that separates us from other beings. Somewhere there is a species that survives and evolves long enough to invent and discover the means to travel” fast” enough to bridge that vastness, whether it’s through speed or time as we (don’t) know it, or both, maybe already has. Maybe this ability (or knowledge of it) is reserved for a species afterlife, if there is one. We are all dying to find out, no pun intended.

Harvest Moon, for example, is pure genius, and Divine Wind, Deadline, and Buck’s contributions to Don’t Turn Your Back and Lips In The Hills are my faves from those albums.

Okay, now that the silent strangers have been identified, what exactly is a purple vision? Drugs, dreams, neurological disorders?

Mr & Mrs Roeser unknowingly had some brownies they shouldn't have, had Purple Visions, told their friend Mr. Dharma about it and he wrote the music...it's possible...
The lies don't count. The whispers do.
