www.guitarworld.com/news/sam-ash-music-all-stores-closingAn icon to many musicians is sadly, closing it's doors. I remember buying one of my first guitars there (Les Paul Standard) back in 1976. I've no idea how they've been in recent years, but back in the day, they were a great store.

I saw that. Hate to see these places go.
One close to where my wife drives sometime. She wanted something. I'll tell her to stop procrastinating and go get what she wanted.

When they first announced the closure of many of their stores, I went to my most local one. Items weren’t discounted that much at that time, and most of the items I’d use (drum-wise) were still quite pricey.
I took solace in knowing that there’d still be some stores left, including another 1-2 in NJ. I should’ve known better.
Sad to see it go.

... and of course, there was the Hempstead branch with its fledgling new salesman, Eric Bloom, occupying an important nexus in the SWU story...

... and of course, there was the Hempstead branch with its fledgling new salesman, Eric Bloom, occupying an important nexus in the SWU story... Other than recalling taking my daughter to their Edison, NJ store when she was about 3-4, where I first saw her fondness of the drums (which she later started lessons of), I also thought of Bloom’s connection to Sam Ash and his eventual meeting the other guys, which, in an odd way, brought us to this message board.

Sad.
Sad that so many businesses are closing. Such a different world that we live in. Could go on for days about that, but I’ll refrain.

The store in my area is good sized and located in a historic building. Years ago the club circuit was large and they were the go to rental store for sound equipment. Sadly the live music scene is mostly gone.

I always imagined that Eric had a back up plan... that if that Blue Oyster Cult thing didn't work out for him he could always get his old job back... What's he gonna do now?

Was Florida Man playing at the time in the store?
