Might as well post about some other concerts I went to this year while I'm at it after writing he Pink Floyd month thread.
ALICE COOPER (MAY 4TH, PEORIA CIVIC CENTER)
I got to see Alice Cooper again! I skipped last year, because Alice Cooper was still being the opening act for Motley Crue's Farewell Tour, and I wanted to see him do another solo tour. I never went to Peoria before, so this was the first time I've ever been there. Sometime after arriving at the venue, I really loved the atmosphere of it. The venue could get huge acts like Alice Cooper like the United Center and the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater, with the laid-back, friendly audience like the Arcada Theatre. One of the people I met there was this old lady sitting behind me and my dad after I overheard her about seeing Ace Frehley. We talked a lot about him, plus Alice Cooper and other musicians. She was really nice.
One of my complaints though was the seating chart. Around the time tickets were purchased, me and my dad were really excited to have gotten front-row. However, when we got to our seats, we were really disappointed, because we had been unaware that there was a reserved seating area in front of us.
The show, sound-wise and visual-wise, was outstanding. New stage props like a huge toybox, and some new characters onstage like the wind-up Sheryl toy and a hilarious fight between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. XD The show was also a lot like the 2013 concert I went to for his 'Raising the Dead' tour, where after he got decapitated onstage, he would pay tribute to four notorious dead musicians. Almost everybody was the same, except for this show, David Bowie was in place of John Lennon.
Although I loved the setlist, I was disappointed that some songs like 'Wind-Up Toy' were never played. I thought it would've been awesome to see Alice Cooper and Sheryl dancing together to this song.
Towards the end of the show, I got another one of Tommy Henriksen's guitar picks. First time I got some from him was back in 2013 outside of the Star Plaza Theatre/Hotel.
It was an awesome night, and after that night, I would see Alice Cooper again, this time with The Hollywood Vampires two months later (which I'll write about in another thread).
ALAN PARSONS (MAY 7TH, ARCADA THEATRE)
After Alice Cooper, I saw Alan Parsons! Before the show, I wanted to make Alan something nice, so I made him a chocolate chibi drawing. ^_^ The one scanned here isn't the one I gave him, which is actually smaller.
Alan Parsons, when it comes to his concerts, he knows how to work with the sound, and it's no surprise since he's had experience as a sound engineer. ^_^ When I was there, the sound quality was perfect, in that I could hear all of the instruments and vocals without any being overpowered. I should note too, P.J. poked fun at me for looking a bit like Morticia Addams, which I thought was pretty funny. XD Then towards the end of the concert, I not only got Alastair Greene's guitar pick (from catching it), but Alan Parsons' too, which P.J. handed to me! ^_^ After the show, me and my dad immediately got in line for our second VIP meet and greet with Alan. What was interesting was the meet and greet wasn't usually in the green room with the big clock this time, but a blue room. Because me and dad were able to quickly say hi to Manny Focarazzo and Dan Tracey.
Before we got in, the security guy sees the chocolate chibi and asks, "Do you want him to sign that?"
"No. XD"
"What is it anyways, a cookie?"
"No, it's chocolate. XD"
Then Alan Parsons looks up at me while signing an autograph, and says, "Chocolate? "
Me: "Well, it's frozen chocolate. ^_^"
Then when it's me and my dad's turn to enter the room, I gave the chocolate chibi to Alan, and his grin made my night; he really loved it. ;D
After we left, I was digging through my purse, and was a bit bummed out that my red guitar pick I caught from Alastair was gone. I wasn't too sad though, because Alan was a cool guy and I got his guitar pick from P.J.!
Both shows were very memorable, and seeing Alice Cooper and Alan Parsons made me like them even more! ^_^ So glad I saw them again!
