Saw today, The E Street Band backed him up one week. The article referenced Promoters "Picking Middling Musicians" to play with Chuck. Seems his shows would end up being unique with the different backing bands. Nice Buck makes it different every night for us :-)

I've just received this info in an email to go on the Hot Rails site, and if it's true, then it's definitely news to me - it's obviously well known that SWU played with Chuck, but I never heard of BOC actually supporting Chuck Berry before:
I was reviewing your giglopedia for 1972 looking for when BOC appeared with Chuck Berry in Annapolis, Maryland. I noticed from your database that 1 Sept 1972 BOC played in Annapolis at an Unknown Venue. I was at that concert. BOC was the supporting act for Chuck Berry that night, and they played at a place called New World Beach, an outdoor covered pavilion next to the beach. It has been closed down for many years, and I haven’t found anything about it on the internet.
I was actually looking this up because of Berry’s passing this weekend, and I wanted to remember as much as I could from the one time I saw him in concert. In truth, my friends and I went to see Berry, but we all were blown away by BOC, and became instant fans. After that, we saw them several other times in concert. I would be interested if any of the BOC band members remember playing at the same gig with Chuck Berry back then.
Is there any truth to this? - or is the guy mis-remembering someone else, I wonder...?

My second concert was Richard Naders first(of many) rock revival at N.Y.'s Felt Forum Oct 1969.The lineup was:Bill Haley and the Comets,Chuck,Shirelles,Platters,Jimmy Clanton,Coasters and an unknown N.Y. doo wop group who brought the house down Sha Na Na.Chuck had us singing along to My Dingaling Quite a fun show.My buddy and I thought the Comets looked old but they were more likely late 30's early 40's.To a 16 yr old that was "old"..My fave Chuck tune has always been Almost Grown.I got a kick out of Hail Hail Rock N Roll Chuck busting Keith Richards chops to get some parts right then Keith saying later "And Chuck didn't stick to the arrangement anyway" LOL .Just saw where Michael Fennelly of Crabby Appleton a FB friend say his band also played as Chucks band one or two nights.
