Just listened to Mirrors, Cultosaurus Erectus and Fire Of Unknown Origin back to back to back. Still hard to believe all this was produced in such a short period of time. ****BOW****

What a run Chuckster. Epic IMO.
When I first heard C.E. I swore it was destined to be huge. Dont know the numbers but it feels like it was solid in sales but didn't go where I felt it should have.
Always feels underappreciated in the grand scheme of all things Cult. Monsters alone just blows my mind.

In my experience, Mirrors turned a number of people off - with the result that they were slow to get to even hear CE at the time, which was obviously a big shame... but by the time of FOUO, BOC were back on track...
And then they lost Albert... :-(

Yeah Mirrors stopped them in their tracks(!?!) for a while. It's not as bad as many people think it is though. Too poppy by half sure but still containing one classic in The Vigil & a host of interesting songs like In Thee, Mirrors, Moon Crazy & Lonely Teardrops. Maybe if they had had a different producer at the helm (Sandy Pearlman, Martin Birch?) it might have turned out better.

I'll stand on my opinion these 3 in a row kick major tail...

If you were talking about the first three albums I'd agree with you entirely.

Mirrors is not one that I play a lot but I did give it a spin a couple of weeks back and enjoyed listening to it-not as bad as some people make out

BOC has always been a band that is hard to put into one genre. Not heavy metal, but several of their tunes are certainly metal, or borderline metal. They have a much harder edge live. Then they release Mirrors, and people aren't sure what to think. Four different lead vocalists, so many different songwriters, producers, and influences. Then Buck releases a near pop solo album. It keeps it interesting for me, but it might have been too much for some headbangers who just wanted to listen to AC/DC, or Kiss style of generic rock. Every BOC album is different, and I find that to be a positive.

Yes totally agree. BOC's genre busting tendencies have always made them interesting as did the collective song writing approach. I love Buck's solo album regardless of what type of music you could call it purely because it's good. The same applies to some extent to all BOC albums. As far as Mirrors is concerned as I said earlier it's not as bad as many people think/say it is but it is also not one of their best.
