I seem to remember reading somewhere that Frank Zappa was a Skyliners fan. If they were good enough for Frank etc.

Sad to hear The Skyliners had many great songs, hailing from Pitts,Pa and Jimmy fought some demons over the years but held it together somehow.I managed to see them a bunch of times-both Since I Don't Have You and This I Swear are augmented by Janet Vogels great high note closing both songs.Sadly Janet committed suicide in the late 70's.Jimmy was IMO one of the best voices of the era. Here's my personal favorite of theirs-Manhattan Transfer used to do this in their shows:
And here's a 1974 clip of them doing Since I Don't Have You:

I like My Lonely way, I never heard that!! Kinda weird, I happened to call Donna Groom by chance for something work related just a few weeks ago, I said do you sing with the Skyliners and she said yea. We had a real nice conversation and then she said she was in fact leaving for a show with the Skyliners, must have been his last show that he did in New York City, September 17th.

"Since I Don't Have You" knocked me on my 11 year old butt when it came out. Just loved it. It awakened in the young and future Buck D. romantic feelings I didn't yet know I had.
I've tried to sing along with Jimmy as an exercise. Can't come close to his voice. He was great.

Donna's hubby is in the band too.
