... Hey Buck!
Just joined your page.. was looking for a "Introductions" sticky or some like kind section here.. not finding one I guess this section will have to do.
I've been a fan since I first heard Hot Rails to Hell some 45 years ago.. I was just a real young teenager growing up in East Poughkeepsie..
Me and my friends were real street rats hanging around and always in trouble of some kind.. and while many of the younger kids were stuck on Kiss and stuff like that.. we were jammed between them and the older "hippie" types.. when BOC hit the waves it was like ya'll were talking right at us..
I know that sounds silly but the heavy metal tainted sound you made and the great lyrics really set you apart from all the rest.. For many of us back then.. especially in lower N.Y. we felt that we were a part of "Cult"so to speak.. and as the years went on.. all those great shows.. at Mid Hudson.. at the Chance and a million other clubs and venues... set the cement of my youth.
Years later in the late 80's I moved my family to rural Oklahoma where I made a life for us.. and I have no complaints.. life has been good.. My wife and i raised 3 great kids and we were able to give them all they needed...
..except for you.. and BOC.
Busy working and all that entails... so far removed from the N.Y. scene.. those days of crazy non stop partying.. of weekly concerts and insanity came to an end.
When my son's grew old enough to understand.. I would regale those memories of old to them .. they would listen to the stories and became fans of the scratched vinyl from my past. When my oldest son graduated college and his soon to be wife moved to their first own home.. how cool was it when he sent me a pic of the first thing he bought for the place.. A vintage stereo outfitted with a nice turntable.. and there in the pic he was holding a copy of the first BOC album!
I've been active on some of the BOC fan groups on Facebook.. made a few online friends.. but had not been to a show in sometime.... But last year you scheduled two shows in the Houston area.. so we snapped up some good tickets as fast as we could...
The first show was at the White Oak Hall near downtown.. and for me it was a chance to do something I only hoped for.. a chance to take one of my sons to a BOC show and experience the thrill of the band live. We both brought our wives and met some friends there too. As you know.. The White Oak is not a real big place.. so when the show kicked off.. it felt really crowded. just like back in the day.. so many hard core fans showed up.. And man.. Eric and you did not disappoint.. Great set list and even the opener band was kick ass.. I was able to get us right up front and into what a friend calls "The Buck Zone" ... and by the time the show was over Edley, my son was a full on confirmed BOC rocker..! What a great show!
Next up on the list was the Foamhenge festival in west Houston. What a great day it was.. unfortunately my son's had to work and could not make it.. but no matter.. My wife and I went and had a blast.. Again.. a couple of good opening acts got us warmed up (that AC/DC tribute band was quite fun!... my wife really liked Barnes Courtney and I loved Sword!) and then on to the main course! BOC thank you..LOL!
I noticed you seemed to have a little issue on the boards during the sound check but the show came off fantastic! You guys really knocked it out of the park that night.. the weather was perfect and that cool full moon over yer shoulders as you played really set the scene!
Afterwards I was able to snag a nice piece of memory.. getting the manager to let mey have one of the Foamhenge banners to take home.
This year you all are playing in a couple venues closer to home here.. looks like Oklahoma City in June and the Arkansas come July.. I hope for all the boys to make one or both of those shows.. and I'm gonna try to sneak up the Kansas City in a coupla week too.
Hope to see you and maybe get a pic with ya at one of the shows... either way.. thanks for a lifetime of memories and great rock n roll...
Out.. Scott
