Too 80's for me - makes me think of Miami Vice or something.. and I HATE those syndrums... I've always thought that it'd have been interesting to hear that song without that sort of - dated - production... the lyrics are quite interesting - they don't seem typically Meltzerian... they're like a murder/mystery film pitch...

This is actually one of my favorites from BÖC but I completely agree about the 80’s production and drums. I’d love to hear them do this live. Did they ever do this one on the road?

Did they ever do this one on the road? I've got it listed four times during June/July 1983... To see how many times - and where - BOC have performed any given song in their known setlists, go here and select the desired song title using the drop-down menu under "BOC Song Locater": www.hotrails.co.uk/giglopaedia/search.htmNB: If you don't see anything after making a selection, make sure your browser is configured to allow popups from the HRTH site... I'll change it soon so that it doesn't use pop-ups, as they're often problematical... BTW: for other stats, go here: www.hotrails.co.uk/giglopaedia/boc_stats.htm

I love Veins, Simmons synth drums and all. I thought it was interesting Buck decided to sing that one. It seemed like more of an Eric type vocal, before Buck started singing more of the rock tracks as well. One of my favs from Revölution.

Always liked the song musically but could never get over some of the lyrics (and I'm not much of a lyric snob). If the lyrics sound good that's almost always enough for me. Almost every line that has the word Veins in it makes me cringe! The rest seems a good start to a story about a misunderstanding between friends.

Always thought the story was taken from a 1956 film Nightmare where Kevin McCarthy is hypnotized by someone to commit a murder and his brother in law cop played by Edward G Robinson figures it out.

Good song killed by the production, it's dated now but I felt the same in the 80's when I first heard it. It's a pity because the song is interesting & the performance strong, it was probably better live but although seeing them twice on the Revolution tour I didn't witness them playing it.
On the other hand the production isn't great on The Shadow of California from the same album but in this case the song & the performance transcend the production. An underrated classic in my opinion.

Veins Lite!
I open my eyes From a dreamless night With a sense of dread You could cut with a knife So I’m thinking that Maybe I killed somebody You never know—you never know when You might have killed somebody
A vision confronts me Damage that I’ve done Blood on the stairway Void in my skull
I visit my friend We have a fight I’m drinking his whisky I’m wanting his wife Then the image goes black Did I kill somebody? ’Cause there ain’t no clue, there’s no clue That I killed somebody
Souls that remind me Banging at my door Thoughts that confound me Chalk on the floor
I get the shivers And I’ve got the shakes People screaming my name Like there’s no mistake I can’t believe it’s true Did I kill somebody? But I just don’t know, I don’t know Did I kill somebody?
Words on the sidewalk Death knows the score Fear in my mind, oh Time ever more

BTW I've grown to LOVE Light Years Of Love.
