I generally agree. Ghost Stories is great as a one off project, but it would be nice to get a second or third release that was maybe marketed more as a rarities compilation than a semi-new original album. I personally don't mind the tinkering (I too have a dime store version of MAL for my own amateur remixes and clean up jobs for things) but I agree, just because the sound quality isn't the greatest, doesn't mean people don't want to hear it. Stuff like George's uploaded version of In The Presence Of Another World for instance is something I know a lot of fans have clamored for : studio recordings of Imaginos songs with BÖC actually playing on them. And yeah the recording is pretty rough, but with just little of my own (totally amateur) audio editing, it sounds pretty good. Not "new album in 2024" good, but releasable. It might be the case that the Eric's name on the songwriting credits might be a case of "change a word, get a third" as Buck had suggested regarding Don't Come Running To Me. Or maybe it's a more accurate credit, like with Eric being added to E.T.I. Joe Bouchard answered this question on FB. ----> Joe Bouchard - "Hey Ralph, to the best of my recollection I wrote the music and the title. That’s all. Eric wrote the verses I believe. They are pretty funny."

I guess that means all the songs besides the covers are either from the Mirrors and Revolution periods. according to my research, the nine originals go like this: six songs are from Mirrors' rehearsals, December 1978 Full Tilt Sts NYC; and as Ralph has previously documented, "Late Night", "Supernatural" and "Don't Come Running" come from Revolution's GG loft rehearsals, early '84.

As long as it’s not “BOC: Rough & In the Raw”! Always thought a great BOC album title would be “Mother of Pearl”

You know what would be interesting? For the band to record new, current versions of the tracks on Ghost Stories, as an official studio release. I'd buy that in a heartbeat (in addition to the two versions of Ghost Stories that I've already purchased).
And/or to record new versions of other songs in GG's vaults. Wouldn't have to go to the trouble of creating all new songs, which seems to be a stumbling point or at least not something the band desires at the moment. We'd get a new album of songs, in versions that sound similar to the quality of Symbol Remains. Sounds like a win-win to me!

I understand the desire for more. But personally I've been watching this 20 year slow crawl to the end of this magical Career of Evil with melancholy respect and admiration. The breath of life to push the band on to attain new heights from Danny, Jules and Richie has been breathtaking. The new and reimagined material of late, the work from Albert and Joe over the last 10 years, it all has been nothing short of amazing. I can honestly say , for me at least, that if this is all that the boys want to leave us I can't be upset. It's been a helluva ride and I have to say it's a damn fine one. Nobody in Blue Öyster Cult owes us anything. OYFOOYK FOREVER 🤘

OYFOOYK FOREVER 🤘 totally agree. but... we know that there are lots of material in the vaults only a few of us have listened to and for one, I'd really like to listen to it all. and well, a track that should have been part of Ghost Stories, even in a sub par quality, is the Career of Evil rehearsal featuring Patti Smith and Allen.

You get to do the cover art for that special limited edition version.

Third listen and very happy with this release. Soul Jive, The Only Thing, and Money Machine all sound like great late era Led Zeppelin.

I'd pay good money to hear a tapes of the guys in the studio fly on the wall-style. Hell, the few minutes of Dallas '75 on youtube are :->>> Maybe it's because there's been BOC and nobody else since I was 14, but to me, BOC is more than the guys but it's also the guys and each one of them was an integral one-fifth of the band. And I just felt like I could relate to the personalities in the band whereas other bands they were all distant, almost not real. It's not "he's just the this" and "he's just the that" but those guys are the band. It's a team. I like that.

just for the record, the whereabouts of Roadhouse Blues will remain unknown. I asked GG about it and much to my surprise he just doesn't know. management mentioned to him there's going to be a Japan bonus track but he had no idea where it's coming from.
somebody might just try and ask Steve S. or Richie, if you know how to reach to them

Not a bad little statistic for Ghost Stories!
"This week, Blue Öyster Cult returns to one Billboard ranking in the United States with their latest release. The band’s new album Ghost Stories debuts on the Top Album Sales chart at No. 24."

When The Only Thing wins a Grammy they can then release BOC-The Grammy Years.
BTW If and when BOC finally make the Hall they should perform She's As Beautiful As A Foot,Workshop and Redeemed as a nice fuck you to the Hall.I think Lars and the rest of the BOC fans in the audience would get a kick out of it.
