This is almost identical to the official "Blue Oyster Cult News" page. Red=article, black=Frontiers write-up on BOC website.
As the band bookends their recording career
As the band bids farewell to their recording career
Means the same thing I guess, but bids farewell is a little more "final".
Wishful thinking, but the end of "....their recording career" with the key word "recording". If there is more stuff that George has that can be pieced together, that technically isn't "recording". Or maybe George will be "set free" to post things that may lurking in his collection.
Like I said wishful thinking, and speaking of that:
Did I read somewhere that Buck was working on a new song? Releasing something new as Buck Dharma, or through Band Geeks, would not contradict the end of BOC's recording career.

One could only hope and wish that this is not the end...not because this effort isn't good enough...no...but because hardcore BOC fans just never get enough! We'll always yearn for another song, album, stream, interview...whatever the boys give us. Wow what a ride BOC has had, and what a ride the fans have had with them! Whether the greatest or not will always be debated by fans of diverse tastes, but as for me...they are certainly my personal favorite band of all time! Long live BOC!!!!!

As much as I totally LOVE BOC and especially Buck and Eric, I have no problems with retirement from live or recording from them. Been a fan for exactly 50 years and can only wish them both a long and happy retirement!
Still tho' - Maybe Buck has a little more up his sleeve? I hope so.......!

To add to that, ending a recording career on your own terms is the best way for a career to end. So many bands who got one album or no albums, or bands with tragic endings or acrimonious breakups, etc. After the bullshit with Sanctuary I assumed for a while there would never be another album. So to get a final batch of brand new songs (their best since FOUO in my opinion) and a restoration of a bunch of unreleased tracks is a hell of a send off. So I’m happy for the oyster boys and I’m thrilled as a fan too.

My first thought when I read this news about another release that involves the entire original band and current band is wow.
This band never ceases to amaze me at how they cater to their hard-core fans. Buck you and your band mates are simply the best..
OK…..so now can we get a Ghost live show including everyone from the original and current band in New York City this fall? 😀

I can see why that would appeal as an attractive city (as usual for BOC). While it's affordable to me (Scotland) - there are L0TS of Euro fans who have missed out on big shows because of costs/ logistics etc. I'm also thinking of fans in the US sticks etc. So, to appease as much as possible, maybe three gigs with slightly elevated prices to appease a broader scope of fans covering a much bigger scope of cities - NYC - LA - London?
Okay - jumping the gun a bit here!

I am also on board with No NEW YORK CITY. Not just for BOC. I'm done going there. (Not that I'm doing anything Live anymore #wink)

So I’m happy for the oyster boys and I’m thrilled as a fan too. Agree with both of you. I retired from my career on MY own terms and I have no regrets. I spent a year weighing all the pros and cons, couldn't decide, but then the decision day came into focus, and it was the right decision for me. But I was still interested in some of the things that I did at work, so I kept doing the affordable ones at home as hobbies for myself.
So if the recording career of BÖC as a band really does end, well then thanks for all the years of fighting to get things recorded and put out there for the fans, old and new!
The devil is always in the details, and "recording" is a very specific task out of all the things they do. We don't know how all encompassing that is intended to be. But Buck has his own recording studio, not sure what all he has in there, but unless there's something I don't know I just can't picture him staying out of there not doing "something". And I can't see him not getting the itch to put his fingers on one of those guitars! And I'm sure George has more stuff stashed away the could get thrown in the mix. (Yea, mix does not equal record ).
Maybe there will be a "The Dharmas Part 2" or something?
