Don't read the guitar mags much anymore but my wife still gets me a subscription to Guitar Player. Really nice to see Buck included in GP's Feb. issue of the 40 greatest hard rock guitarists...hanging out on the same page as Ronnie Montrose, Brian May and Paul Kossoff...good company! Richie Blackmore is on the cover. I think Buck said at one point he was an early influence but could be wrong on that. At any rate, congrats Buck!!

I'll have to look for that, I just got my January 2021 issue with the article on Santana's Abraxas album, which is one of my favorite albums, so that was cool to see. Hope February comes in soon. I subscribe to about 5 guitar mags, it's always a nice surprise to see Buck, and most of my other favorite guitarists rarely get featured either.

Yup, Richie Blackmore was an early influence of mine. He was trailblazing with his style of playing. Not too many trailblazers these days, or I just haven't heard them. Oz Noy comes to mind.
Nice to be included in that bunch on GP. Buck/BOC getting a decent amount of retrospective props lately.

I think a bigger problem is no love for legacy artists at "active" rock radio. Even the huge artists sell mainly on reputation, not 'cause they have a current hit track that everyone hears.

All AC/DC have had for the last 30 years is reputation, judging by their albums. Thunderstruck was pretty awesome. Other than that I barely pay attention when they put out a new album once every 6-10 years with a bunch of brand new song. I love AC/DC but they are watering down their discography like mimosas at Sunday brunch.

What BOC party extravaganza did 'Hurricane Sandy ruin? I don't get that reference (sorry ) BOC had some big deal anniversary show and acoustic set planned for New York in 2012. Hurricane Sandy hit before the event and ruined much of it. I'm comparing ACDC messing up much of BOC's spotlight by releasing an album nearly at the same time. Im just not sure what the event was in 2012. It was like out Tapping Spinal Tap, with the irony of the name Sandy being the name of the storm and such...

Well, I think we all know the answer to that, but I'm not spotting the immediate relevance to the topic currently under discussion... that said, and as been frequently pointed out to me over the years, so much so, in fact, that I MAY have to consider the possibility that they might be right, I'm not the brightest bulb in the erm... box of bulbs... OK, I admit it - I'm not great on metaphors... :-(

I never knew about it since I basically disappeared from the forums for a decade lol.

I countered that there would be MORE BOC props is ACDC hadn't thrown incidental shade at them by releasing their new album at the same time. THEN I was thinking (to myself) BOC was getting robbed now like they were getting robbed back in '12 by Hurricane Sandy. I just couldn't remember what the deal was, was it the 40th anniversary?

Okay now I get you. The AC/DC thing just bugs me, because they're just releasing the same song over and over and over again at this point. I mean, their songs always sounded SIMILAR to each other, but now I can't tell a damn one of them apart.
