Okay, so here's a fun thread idea. Anyone can share any food/drinks they have recently made, tried out, or bought while also sharing any music they might have listened to or just reminded them of the food. I've also been indulging in a cooking obsession lately. There are many recipes I've tried out, but to kick off the thread, here's some (not all) carrot fries I cooked for the first time! They were really good!
For music, I listened to a little bit of Steely Dan:

I'm not much of a cook but weirdly started baking last week. This is my first attempt an apple & olive oil cake. A traditional Tuscan recipe apparently. Attachments:

I baked some apple cinnamon chips tonight; plus had some leftover carrot fries; I'm surprised I still have lots left over considering that I've been snacking on them a lot lately.
Didn't really listen to any music while baking since apple chips are quick and easy prep, so here's a REALLY old Alice Cooper song:

Today, I celebrated me having finally completed my web degree program! It was a pain towards near-completion because there was one required web class that I needed that wasn't taking place for a long time due to not being in the class catalog until this Spring semester. I was glad to finally take that class. I also additionally took a web prototype class both for fun and to help support my professor so she could have enough students to make both classes happen. Now I can say as a double-major that I have finally completed my second degree program. Now I just gotta wait for the degree to come in the mail!
And so, with today's dinner celebration, I decided to try out takeout from one of the local restaurants in my area. I did move out-of-state a couple months ago, but I had yet to try out any of the local food places, because for a long time, I was trying to cut back on eating out since I had spent a lot of time eating out while I was traveling back and forth a few times over the course of a few-month period before I officially moved into my new home. I've also been trying to be a lot less of a picky eater since March and have been eating a lot more various (healthier) foods. I decided to try a salad with a black bean patty since I had never tried a vegan patty before, despite not being vegan myself. To my surprise, it was really good. The high-fiber patty was spicy and it tasted great, and the black beans in it were also good! I also enjoyed the rest of my salad, though I couldn't eat the cucumbers or the large pepper wedges because I felt like it was too much for my plate and didn't find the two tasty. Those aside, I especially liked the raspberry vinaigrette for the dressing. It's been hard for me trying to get into salad dressing, but I've found myself really liking the fruit-based dressing today.
And since my post is about a black bean salad, here's Rat Salad:

I learned how to cook bean chili with ground beef and chopped red bell pepper today! When I was finished cooking, I also added some mozzarella cheese to my bowl. I was listening to Alice Cooper's Detroit Stories in the kitchen both yesterday and today. I initially wasn't really hooked when I heard a little bit of a teaser for the album's release, but it's pretty good to listen to while I'm cooking.

Last night, I learned how to cook roasted chickpeas.
I was also actually watching Supermarket Sweep at the same time as I was cooking the chickpeas, so here's the theme
And David Ruprecht getting hit (twice):

This morning, I made myself a waffle topped with plain greek yogurt mixed with blueberries, chia seeds, and a non-sugar natural sweetener.
Since I used blueberries, it's only fitting that I listen to BOC during breakfast. I was listening to the Agents to Fortune record, because the first day of summer is only 2 weeks away!

Looks good! I'll take one of those & a double side portion of the soundtrack!

Earlier this month, I won a $90 HelloFresh discount for logging my meals on a food diary app. The first box came this week and was completely free. I tried out the Balsamic Fig Chicken recipe tonight, and while I did stumble a bit based on how much food prep and cooking was going on all at once, I was immediately in love with the dish once I finally got to sit down and eat. The meal tasted like real restaurant food! The chicken dish consists of chicken topped with a sauce made from fig jam, balsamic vinegar, fresh rosemary, chicken stock, and diced onions. Part of the dish also included diced yukon gold potatoes and salad greens with a bit of lemon squeeze.
For the first delivery, I ended up asking for too many servings for the first few recipes, but at least I'll have plenty of delicious leftovers!
I was listening to Jefferson Airplane while in the kitchen:
