I have not, but The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society is one of my favs of all time. Really, any album of theirs from Face to Face through Muswell Hillbillies is either perfect or damn near enough. My favorite Kinks song of all time, however, is Shangri-La from Arthur or: The Decline and Fall of the British Empire. Arthur's a great record..."don't you know it" Arthur could be you were right all along, don't you know it? I hope you know it! Oh we love you and want to help you Oh we love you and want to help you and Oh we love you and want to help you When somebody loves you don't you know it? Don't you know it.

Victoria is my favorite side one track one by them ever, as well. I really love Ray Davies' lyrical sensibilities. He can turn from sincere to cynical and sarcastic on a dime, and it works either way.
My band used to do Apeman for soundchecks.

Victoria is great.Probably one of the most underrated albums of its time tho a bunch of Kinks records fall into that category..

I guess the 50's were a good time for bluesy rock.

Honey Hush is a Big Joe Turner song. And Johnny Burnette Trio covered it. I saw the first part, but did not search out the cover. Aerosmith was my favorite band, until I saw BOC.

This is one of my favorite albums of the 80's. One of my most listened to vinyls in my collection. Stevie Ray Vaughan's guitar work is crucial to this album, too. While the songs speak for themselves and are great on their own, listening to the demo for Let's Dance vs the album cut shows just how much of an incredible player Stevie Ray Vaughan was. Everything was in its proper place, nothing superfluous, but NEVER dull. Such a phenomenal album.

I happen to like a lot of the later Rolling Stones stuff. Steel Wheels really were a comeback for them after the disappointing Dirty Work and Undercover. Steel Wheels and the live album Flashpoint were like the Stones saying "we're back" in a very big way. This is my favorite track off of this album:

I think a Steel Wheels live boxed set is just out or coming out.

Traveling through the entire discography before the big release. I remember tha Curse came out RIGHT before a family vacation, and I only had room to pack a few CDs in my bag, so I brought the best of Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Detroit Rock City soundtrack, and Curse of the Hidden Mirror.
Every day I walked to the arcades in Stone Harbor NJ I had my CD player with me, and I shit you not, I listened to Curse once a day, EVERY day, all week. I was just shy of my 16th birthday and my mind was still able to accept loads of new information and store lyrics like it never would again. I can remember the lyrics on that album better than the lyrics I wrote for my own damn band.
That was my first "new" BOC record, Heaven Forbid having come out the year before I started getting into them. The next spring after Curse came out I saw BOC live for the first time, and it was my first ever concert period. March 2, 2002. That is indelibly imprinted in my brain.
I am so friggin' happy we're getting another one. And that I have tickets to see them next year, if it doesn't get postponed due to COVID.
Anyway, that vacation is why I always associate the songs on that album with summertime.
