(This one is from way back, but I'm including it here for a reason)Stuart Adamson (1958 – Dec 16,2001) Scottish guitarist and singer In 1981 he formed the band Big Country. He was also the band's lead singer and guitarist. His name recently came up because of a very good cover version that Big Country did of DFTR that I stumbled upon. See the following post on this forum and the next few posts after it. buck-dharma-forums.freeforums.net/post/20993/threadInfo on Big Country at: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_CountryFYI: his passing and the DFTR cover have been discussed previously. I love all manner of speed. I raced motorcycles for decades but it's folks like him that inspired generations of speed freaks. RIP Fast guy.

On April 4. Craig Breedlove, land speed record pioneer. First person to exceed 400, 500, 600 mph on land. 87. Definitely a significant achievement since his 600.601 mph record was way back in 1965. Looks like now the one to beat is the British ThrustSSC. 763.035 mph in 1997, and the first to exceed the speed of sound. 0.05 miles per gallon. Both a little fast for me......

Fastest I've ever gone on land was 140mph. Breaking the sound barrier on tires seems totally weird.
