A friend of mine in the book industry got an advance copy, he said the BOC lyrical references are numerous; he believes that the band and its fans can expect a popularity bounce akin to - if not greater than - the cowbell skit. Having heard Chapter 2 of the audio book, there is a reference to a Club Ninja track, an indicator that this goes beyond fandom in the league of the big 3.

For whatever reason, and I'm grateful, J.K. Rowling is a pretty big BOC fan, and has incorporated deep BOC references into the third Cormoran Strike private detective series of books. After learning about the upcoming "Career Of Evil," I read the first two books in the series, and I'm hooked on the characters and the stories.
Book is coming this week!

BTW: in that review above, it says the main guy "had been in the military police's Special Investigation Branch"... I wonder if he also is 6'5" and wanders around the country with nothing more than a battered passport and a fold-up toothbrush in his pocket...?

Ha, he's tall and beefy, but he's missing a lower leg [IED in Afghanistan] and has lousy hair. I read the first two books, I enjoyed them a lot.

Stopped by the local B&N for a coffee and perused it (not my style preference, so I won't be reading it); 60+ chapters, each chapter has a BOC lyric line (or 2) as the name, references throughout, 3 pages at the ending listing song names, authors, rights assignment, etc.; author specifically mentions BOC in the acknowledgements. All eras of the band are represented, SS should be wildly frothing at the mouth regarding the PR potential.

Buck, I have the book coming in the mail from Amazon. Are the first two books required reading or does each volume stand of its own? Still chewing on Sharyl Atkisson's STONEWALLED, first.

SS should be wildly frothing at the mouth regarding the PR potential. He could be hitting the phones and arranging for BOC to support JKR on her book-signing tour with an acoustic set based on the book chapters, like Blue Coupe did with Dennis Dunaway's recent book tour... is she doing any TV interviews or chat shows? BOC could be playing at the interval... etc etc Sony will doubtless probably bring out a compilation based on the songs mentioned in the book, anyway...
