I wonder if there are any other incorrect lyrics I've been singing along to all these years...? Rock 'n' roll is full of misheard lyrics, Ralph! Part of the fun is trying to figure what the singers are really saying. At least you're not one of those who actually think that Hendrix sang "Excuse me while I kiss this guy."
If you have an old, old turntable with 4 speeds, one of those should be 16rpm, then you could play your vinyl albums at 16rpm and maybe figure out what they are saying. Likewise, you can play your 45's at 33rpm if the song was available as a single. A more modern technique might be to make a wav or mp3 file of the song and then slow it down using software like Audacity or Adobe Soundbooth. I haven't tried it, but on the surface it seems like it might work.

This is cool. I'm tickled. There's audio of the interview. www.kunc.org/post/jk-rowling-explores-perils-fame-career-evil#stream/0>Author Robert Galbraith just loves the band Blue Öyster Cult — in fact, lyrics from the band are all over his latest book, Career of Evil, the third novel in the Cormoran Strike series. "To be honest, it's the guitar hook. I'm a real sucker for guitars," laughs Galbraith — otherwise known as J.K Rowling. "I've had a crush on many, many a guitarist."

During the AOL years I thought I remember seeing a blurb from altbouch that the main riff was composed on keyboard? Would it diminish her enthusiasm knowing it was composed by the drummer?

Didn't know Albert composed on a keyboard...? It's got a sort of "written on a piano" type feel to the verse, for sure...

Nice to hear that from J.K. I loved it when Jill Hennessey said how great BOC was after hearing their music in prep for Roadie. The Fleetwood Mac of HM moniker to me still stands up(as HM as they were at times)-the song variety was very much on par with FM who were at their creative peaks at the time.

Mad Pat on J&A spotted that JKR had been interviewed about the book on BBC radio 2 as part of a Book Club type thing (within a larger magazine-format programme) which goes into more detail about the book and its characters - also the interview kicks off with a bit about "why BOC?" - plus they play 4.5 seconds of CoE and the edited DFTR - it's on the BBC iplayer for viewing, but my impression is that you can only see it if you have a UK IP address (or can "spoof" one): www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06mbhj5(the JKR bit is one hour and 7 minutes in) Let me know if it's right that you can't view the programme, and I'll post a link where you can download it from...

AB himself was kind enough to share this regarding CoE -
Hi Mark.
I wrote the song in my head first. I based it on a song I wrote in high school called “She Turns Me On” which was based on a song from the Rocky Fellers called “Killer Joe”.
I got the idea for the vocal first, singing the lyrics with the Killer Joe rhythm.
Trying to come up with a riff for the guitar I ripped off the notes from Transmaniacon MC (the riff of which was written by Buck) and the rhythm from guitar riff from Killer Joe. The lyrics were written in entirety by Patti Smith and based on some obscure French Poet. It was the third set of lyrics she gave me and the second song BOC did of hers.
Does anybody remember the Rocky Fellers?
Al

When you hear that BOC are (extensively) mentioned in a book, as a fan you are naturally delighted but you wonder if it will have any tangible results for the band - will more people get turned on to BOC as a result? Here's something I just saw from India that suggests that it might: www.thehindu.com/thread/arts-culture-society/article7861505.ece

EB senses a cross-cultural business opportunity, working feverishly on a crime novel set in Iraq, entitled The Great Sunni Jester.
