We don't need no stinking badges! Correct. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stinking_badgesYou can read the reference to The Treasure of the Sierra Madre yourself. I'm not posting it here! How is it that BÖC doesn't have a song "Stinking Badges? One of the cleaner versions though.....

Not really a crime show, more Mission impossible type malarkey, but Cities on Flame pops up during episode 3 of 'Citadel' on Prime. Makes a change from Reaper

Citadel season 1 was pretty good. Class Of '09 is good too. I like the show From a lot tho it is frustrating that 8 eps into season 2 we still don't know the origin of any of the doings there.

I don't know if The Diplomat fits in this thread, but I sure enjoyed year 1.

I don't know if The Diplomat fits in this thread, but I sure enjoyed year 1. Fits close enough here. We went through that one pretty fast. We thought it was REALLY good! I think another season is in the works. I hope. Just like when we watched Jack Ryan I had to fill in some of the acronyms for the wife when she looked a little confused. :)

Citadel looks interesting to me. I don't know if we just missed it or if the better half vetoed it. The trailer I saw was mostly action, shooting, and CGI looking stuff. She'll bypass those and she's the one that normally keeps our streaming queue filled. But I need to look again. It took me 2 years to get her to watch Jack Ryan, but once she saw a few eps she was hooked. Might be the same here. Class of '09 is on a channel we don't have.

Bosch:Legacy I still don't have a date for the next season. Placeholders are there, but no details - yet. There's even a hint at a Season 3.

I haven't seen "Jack Ryan" - I've just looked it up online and it doesn't seem to be based on the books, as such - i.e. there doesn't seem to be a Campus involvement - is that right? If you're current with the books, you'll have noticed how they alternate - the Greaney and Cameron books are generally the full Campus involvement, whereas the Don Bentley ones are just Jack Jr., more or less on his own in his Superman cape saving the world. OK, he'll occasionally call up Clark or Ding on the phone, but they don't get to make an appearance. It almost seems like he's contractually obliged to not feature anybody else... and these books, well I always call them the St. Jack mini-series, are the worst of the lot... eg a woman's car breaks down on a lonely highway in Monsoon conditions, and Holy Jack driving by, stops, spends an hour and half in the mud fixing the problem and then, at the end, he just gives a cheery wave as he speeds off to stop a nuclear bomb from detonating downtown... I'm a bit bored with it at the moment, tbh, and if the TV show is like that, I don't think I'll bother trying to seek it out...
BTW: Finally, I have now seen the Reacher TV series, and I thought it was pretty good - that actor they got is MUCH closer to what your mind's eye has been conjuring up all these years... it stuck reasonably close to the book, but for some reason dragged in Neagley, which is 5 or 6 books too early... and although I thought the ending was poorly done, I'd give it an 8/10 on the Reacher Scale - that's a bit like the Richter scale, only taller and meaner... in contrast, the needle barely quivered for the Tom Cruise abominations...

John Sandford gets an occasional mention in the course of these threads, so I just thought I'd mention something that was new to me - probably everybody else knows all about it, and I'm just a day late and a unit of the local currency short, as usual... Anyway, if you've read the Prey series, you'll know how in recent years, Sandford added the Virgil Flowers series, which alternated in the LD timeline, so you'd read the latest Davenport one roundabout May and then six months later you'd get the new Flowers one - a bit like Michael Connolly did by weaving in the Lincoln Lawyer, Jake McEvoy and Renee Ballard books with Bosch... anyway, recently Sandford seems to have abandoned the Flowers books, and so the last couple of Preys have been Davenport/Flowers combined... I had assumed he was finding 2 books a year a bit too tough, but apparently not... When I saw that the latest Prey book had a mysterious reference to something Davenport's daughter had been up to, I googled and found to my annoyance there was a new series I'd never heard of before, based on Letty Davenport. There are only 2 books out so far, which I've just finished, so it won't be too difficult to get back on track with the overall timeline if you haven't come across them yet... check 'em out - they're a bit different, but you do have to press your "Disbelief Suspension" button a few times - by the end of the 2nd one, Letty is crawling through the woods with suppressed weapons at night in NVGs shooting oncoming assassins...

On Jack Ryan: I'm not really much of a book reader, or listener, anymore so I have no clue how the show fits in, or not, with any of the books you mentioned. It's advertised as "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan" if that's any help But I thought it was an excellent TV show. Good actors, good filming, and good stories. It takes a little getting used to if you're unfamiliar with the kind of things being portrayed and the terminology. Naturally, things are sped up and made more dramatic than reality, but that's the same for most shows. I wouldn't necessarily discount some of the things that seem a little far fetched. Clancy has been viewed by some as having inside information on such things. That's what the people say.... Each season is a different story. I'm not sure I considered the first season the best, but it's been awhile since I've seen it. So if you decide to check it out, don't give up if you don't like the first few episodes. I don't remember any episode being boring. Hope you end up liking it. FYI: Jack Ryan Season 4 starts this Friday (June 30) !I just told my wife, she said "Oh no...". Don't get me wrong, she really started liking the show once she got into it, but it's a "you snooze you lose" show. And I have to pause it every once in awhile to explain some things because I can tell she didn't pick up on some important detail.
On Reacher TV Series: Yes, Alan Ritchson who plays Reacher is a BIG guy. 6' 3", but it's his weight and muscle that makes him stand out. A supposedly he's "pumping up" even more for Season 2. Yep, Reacher Season 2, sometime mid to late 2023. Nobody seems to be sure. Here's somebody's take on it:

Depends on which generation NVG he's wearing.... Letty's actually Davenport's (adopted) daughter and the reason that whole thing seemed so striking to me was that she had become more or less human wallpaper in the background of the novels - she featured quite largely in a couple of the earlier books but then settled back down and blended into the background noise - she was always in school and then went away to Stanford so you never really heard from her... then came this new series and she's suddenly front and centre, working as a Homeland adjunct with an ex-Delta (sort of) partner killing "bad guys" who definitely need killing... I dunno, it all seemed to happen a bit too fast for me, it just didn't seem organic... Sandford seems to be venturing into new territory with this series, and I'm not certain I could describe it as the best use of his talents... there are other folk, eg Mark Greaney, Brad Taylor, Vince Flynn, Kyle Mills, Brad Thor, Jack Mars, John Gilstrap, Jack Carr, Jonathan Maberry etc etc who do this sort of thing 24/7... > Depends on which generation NVG
In Letty's defence, she got the gear in question from a dead terrorist and did voice a complaint that they weren't up to the standard she was used to in training, but still got the job done...

I have a hand held night vision device - I traded it for buying someone lunch one day. She may have got the better deal. I think it's probably Gen 0. Works, but I never had much luck with it. I would NOT "run through the jungle" with that thing. What do you expect for 5 bucks. I had a chance to peek through a supposedly really good Gen 3 one, but I procrastinated and it had already moved on. Oh well...

Reacher on Amazon Prime is really damn good. Much better than the movies.
Brooklyn 99 is a great police comedy.

Brooklyn 99 I caught a few eps and found them funny. Watched the first two eps of Jack Ryan season 4.It's only 6 eps.So far so good.Wendell Pierce is back Michael Pena is a nice addition.
The writers strike has curtailed the start of many shows.
Walking Dead Dead City is pretty good.
1883,1923 and Yellowstone are held up as is The Old Man(Jeff Bridges) and others.
Blacklist is ending and I'm loving these last episodes. One of my fave shows of all-time.
From finished season 2 with a surprise ending setting up an interesting start to Season 3.It's a really good IMO horror show.
